3A Softball: Prairie clinches state berth

Pravina Blunk tripled, doubled and scored four runs as the Falcons clinched a state playoff berth by beating Lakes 10-0 on Thursday in the opening round of the Class 3A bi-district tournament in Lacey.

Alysia Fraley doubled and drove in three runs for No. 4 seed Prairie, which ended the game via mercy rule in the fifth inning.

The 3A Greater St. Helens League champions will face top-seeded Peninsula in the semifinals on Saturday.

HERITAGE 11, CENTRAL KITSAP 9 — Larissa Villa homered twice and the Timberwolves opened bi-district play by rallying to win a loser-out game.

Heritage trailed 8-1, but scored two runs in the fifth and eight runs in the sixth. Taylor Frost’s three-run single with two outs put the Timberwolves ahead.

Makenzie Misner went 3 for 4 with two RBI. She also struck out 14 and walked none over seven innings.

HERITAGE 2, THOMAS JEFFERSON 0 — Kylie Stroup’s two-run single in the top of the seventh kept the Timberwolves’ quest for a state tournament berth alive.

Makenzie Misner pitched a shutout, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out five.

Heritage will have two chances to clinch a state berth when the tournament resumes Saturday.

AUBURN MOUNTAINVIEW 7, MOUNTAIN VIEW 5 — Ava Lechner homered, Mary Fogg had two RBI but the Thunder’s season came to an end with an opening-round loss.

The opening round of the tournament was rained out for a second consecutive day at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.

The eight-team event is now scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
